Position Summary
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator provides support, coordination, and leadership for certain services for the HabiJax Volunteer Engagement program. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator broadly promotes volunteer opportunities, coordinates volunteer registration, communication, scheduling, and training, and ensures that all volunteers and homebuyers have a great volunteer experience. Primary responsibilities of this position include recruiting, informing, processing, scheduling, training, and coaching as it relates to volunteer opportunities. This position helps to coordinate volunteer efforts with internal departments as well as external stakeholders. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with volunteers and partner families of diverse backgrounds, sound time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and a commitment to HabiJax’s mission, vision, and values.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The standard hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Some work may be completed remotely.

Pay Rate
The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour based on experience.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of HabiJax’s Volunteer Engagement services including engaging directly with potential volunteers and providing coaching and training to volunteers as needed to maximize the experience for all volunteers.
- Coordinate the logistics and operations of recruiting, screening, and scheduling volunteers in accordance with HabiJax policies and procedures. Maintain volunteer database for tracking and reporting.
- Support and help coordinate local community and volunteer events and activities as needed.
- Perform initial evaluation of prospective volunteers by examining their registration submission and evaluating eligibility in accordance with HabiJax’s program policies and procedures.
- Guide volunteers and homebuyers through the volunteer sign-up and registration process with individualized attention and coaching, using encouragement, patience, understanding, and compassion.
- Coordinate and support volunteers as they serve on our construction sites, at our ReStore location, at our main office, or other locations as assigned.
- Register volunteers each morning and conduct daily volunteer orientation as required.
- Check up on volunteers throughout the day to ensure a positive volunteer experience. Resolve issues as needed.
- Engage with volunteers via surveys and conversations to capture volunteer experiences and stories and identify possible program improvements. Share this information internally and externally as appropriate.
- Organize and coordinate training for volunteers, including volunteer team leaders and other special build events and projects.
- Support volunteer orientation programs, arrange venues, and prepare materials as required.
- Attend community outreach events as needed.
- Coordinate and collaborate with department and HabiJax staff.
- Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity.
- Perform additional duties as required and directed.
- High School degree or equivalent experience required
- 1 years of experience working with volunteers preferred
- Complete training and obtain certifications as required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Manage time effectively, multi-task & prioritize in order to meet established goals & deadlines.
- Attention to detail and persistence in follow up; Strong sense of urgency.
- Computer proficiency to include the use of Microsoft Office and other required software applications.
- Valid Driver’s License insurable by HabiJax’s insurance carrier.
- Able to successfully pass required background and drug screenings.
