(HabiJax) is currently seeking a Volunteer Engagement Manager who has a heart for helping families and individuals in need of a hand up to buy a place they can call home. HabiJax puts God’s love into action by bringing people together to empower families to build better futures through homeownership.
Position Summary
The Volunteer Engagement Manager partners with local organizations to recruit and secure volunteers to help support HabiJax operations and initiatives. This position develops and administers programs and policies to ensure a capable and highly effective volunteer work force is in place to meet the volunteer labor needs of HabiJax construction, administration, and ReStore. The Volunteer Engagement Manager is also responsible for developing the plan for how to accomplish broader community awareness and engagement and the execution on those strategies including targeted and “Power” volunteer opportunities. The Volunteer Engagement Manager works closely with sponsors, local companies, faith-based organizations, and other community organizations to ensure that the correct number and skill level of volunteers are provided for all ongoing HabiJax operations and initiatives. This position oversees the coordination of volunteer efforts with internal departments and external stakeholders. The Volunteer Engagement Manager broadly promotes volunteer opportunities, coordinates volunteer registration, communication, scheduling, and training, and ensures that all volunteers receive great customer service and have a rewarding volunteer experience. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds, ability to manage staff and volunteers, sound time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and a commitment to HabiJax’s mission, vision, and values.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position. The standard hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Some work may be completed remotely.

Pay Rate
The starting annual salary for this position is $60,000 to $68,000 per year based on experience.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Assess the needs of the HabiJax organization for opportunities best served by the use of volunteers and then develop and maintain a volunteer recruitment and management plan to ensure that HabiJax has the volunteers necessary to fill volunteer labor needs for all HabiJax departments.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of HabiJax’s Volunteer Engagement services, including promoting program details and volunteer opportunities, engaging directly with potential volunteers, providing coaching and training to volunteers as required, and leading volunteers and volunteer groups as needed.
- Organize and coordinate training for volunteers, including Power Volunteers, Volunteer Team Leaders, and other volunteers for special build events and projects.
- Maximize the engagement and experience of all volunteers. Provide leadership and oversight of volunteers to ensure volunteer success on the job and ensure the volunteer experience is positive and meaningful.
- Proactively develop and nurture long-term relationships with external sponsors, corporations, faith-based organizations, community organizations, and individuals to develop a strong core and steady stream of volunteers for HabiJax.
- Attend meetings of civic, professional and community groups to share the mission of HabiJax and develop contacts for potential volunteer partners. Perform outreach to various parts of the community to ensure volunteers are available to meet affiliate needs.
- Manage sponsor and affinity build volunteer engagement to ensure a smooth process and engaging experience. Work with Community Partnerships Team to manage and support Team Build Program for targeted corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
- Collaborate with HabiJax Marketing and Communications Team to develop marketing resources for volunteer recruitment.
- Manage Volunteer Engagement team staff to include communicating job expectations; planning, scheduling, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, developing, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Ensure the proper recognition and retention of HabiJax volunteers by identifying trends, needs and preferences of the various volunteer groups and working with the various departments to ensure that volunteer needs are met as appropriate. Design recognition to meet or exceed volunteer expectations and needs.
- Coordinate the logistics and operations of recruiting, screening, and scheduling volunteers in accordance with HabiJax policies and procedures. Ensure the identification and tracking of volunteers. Maintain up-to-date data on contacts through the database and manage the database as a resource tool.
- Coordinate and collaborate with department and HabiJax staff.
- Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity.
- Perform additional duties as required and directed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3 years experience in volunteer coordination and management experience.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, presentation, and relationship building skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to comfortably interact with people of diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High ethical standards, good judgment, and demonstrated diplomacy and tact.
- Achievement and goal oriented with excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Attention to detail, persistence in follow up, and a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate external events and meetings.

- Computer proficiency to include the use of Microsoft Office and other software applications.
- Experience with manipulating data and an understanding of database software. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge preferred.
