Habitat for Humanity of New Mexico is currently seeking a dynamic contractor for the
role of Executive Director.
The Executive Director provides visionary leadership to the Affiliate State Organization
(ASO) in alignment with the directives, policies, and objectives set by the board of
directors. As a passionate advocate for Habitat for Humanity’s mission and vision, the
Executive Director plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s work through
strategic fundraising, organizational management, and fostering strong relationships
with stakeholders. Key areas of focus include fundraising and resource
development, administration, finance, community relations, and close collaboration
with affiliates, the board of directors, and committees.
Duties
Fundraising and Resource Development
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial
resources, including grants, corporate partnerships, individual giving, and event
sponsorships.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate
sponsors, ensuring consistent and meaningful engagement.
Confer with the board of directors as needed to identify, solicit and maintain
existing funding opportunities.
Oversee donor recognition, stewardship efforts, and reporting to ensure
transparency and build trust with supporters.
Collaborate with affiliates to identify and maximize fundraising opportunities
across the state.
Track fundraising metrics and report progress to the board regularly.
Overall Organizational Operations
Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day operational challenges of state
affiliates.
Provide calm, confident, and positive leadership to the entire state network.
Lead the development of short- and long-term planning, including the strategic
plan and annual operations plan.
Document and continuously improve all working processes for the ASO.
Ensure timely reporting to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
Represent the organization in handling complaints or resolving grievances, upon
the board of director’s request.
Create and manage the organizational program budget, ensuring compliance
with regulations and stewardship expectations in collaboration with board
treasurer.
Build and maintain relationships with Habitat for Humanity International, other
state affiliates, and key community partners.
Coordinate quarterly meetings, as well as any other functions at the request of
the board of directors.
Support Chair/President of the board of directors at quarterly meetings and as
requested by the board.
Office Management
Ensure administrative functions of the organization are efficiently managed and
recorded.
Oversee bookkeeping, reconciliation, payroll, donation recording, and other
financial operations.
Manage and maintain the ASO website and social media accounts to enhance
visibility and engagement.
Support and invoice the Burton D. Anderson loan fund.
Advocacy and Influence
Build coalitions and strengthen networks with affiliates and ASO partners.
Mobilize the ASO network to create opportunities for collaboration and advocacy.
Represent the ASO at conferences, workshops, and other key events.
Monitor housing and social policy trends, proposing timely responses and
contributing to the creation of impactful policy statements.
Leadership and Engagement
Serve as an organizational executive and attend all required staff, board
committee, and community meetings.
Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the ASO and among
affiliates.
Act as a key spokesperson for the organization,
Qualifications
Beneficial but not required
- Non Profit work experience
- Grant writing experience
- Coordination experience
- Strong administrative skills, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
