Marine Engineering Mechanic

Marine and Vehicle Mechanic

Location : Haig Point, Daufuskie Island, SC

Overview :

Haig Point Club & Community is a private, member-owned community known for its serene location on Daufuskie Island, SC. We are seeking a dedicated Marine and Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our marine vessels and land-based vehicles, ensuring seamless operations for residents, members, and guests. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a supportive team environment.

Essential Duties :

Perform comprehensive routine maintenance on all boats and vehicles, including engine servicing, inspections of belts, hoses, filters, and batteries.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, particularly in marine systems, under the guidance of the Head Mechanic.
Conduct preventative maintenance and rebuilding of marine diesel engines to minimize downtime.
Assist in maintenance and repair of land-based vehicles, including golf carts, utility vehicles, and other equipment as required.
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Respond promptly to repair requests and emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.
Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers with professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency.
Assist in maintaining an organized and clean work environment.
Additional duties may be assigned based on operational needs.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 1-3 months of relevant experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical degree or certificate in marine mechanics is preferred.

Welding certification is highly desirable.

Prior experience working with diesel, gas, and electric systems is a plus.

Physical Demands :

Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods.

Regularly required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and confined spaces.

Work Environment :

Moderate noise level typical of a maintenance and repair setting.

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and marine environments.

Licensing :

Valid South Carolina Driver's License is required.

Key Skills and Abilities :

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with marine and land vehicle repair tools and diagnostic equipment.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Additional Information :

Flexible schedule may be required, including weekends or holidays, based on operational needs.
