Assistant Director of Corrections

The Director of the Hall County Department of Corrections is seeking an Assistant Director. The Assistant Director will be responsible for a staff of about 100 staff members including officers, supervisors, medical personnel, and clerical staff in a county jail setting in Grand Island, NE. The facility houses county, state, and federal prisoners with an average daily population of over 250.

Preferred applicants will have at least five years of management experience in either corrections or law enforcement and at least an associate’s degree, with a bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Successful completion of state and department mandated training is required.

This position requires a high level of integrity, proven leadership, and a strong work ethic. The Assistant Director must demonstrate an ability to supervise and evaluate a large diverse staff of professionals, make operational decisions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental officials, other employees, contractors, and the general public.

Hall County provides a generous benefit package including health insurance, significant paid leave, and retirement benefits. Current salary range is $88,795.20 to $114,816.00.
