Job Description:
The position of the Accounting Assistant is to perform across several corporate entities. The Accounting Assistant oversees various activities such as general accounting, cost accounting, budgeting. Primary duties include the preparation of all periods financial manufacturing reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), general ledger controls, preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, period-end close, preparation of recurring requests from management, internal and external audits, analysis of financial results and provide advice to management. This includes management of manufacturing cost information analysis including weekly manufacturing cost estimates and variances, monthly actual results and variances, forecasts, and budget preparation. This position would also ensure maintenance of general accounting, cost accounting, payables, and receivables. Although this position reports to the President, there is also a dotted line to the Plant Manager.
The Accounting Assistant will:
· Partner across the organization to drive continuous improvement in financial and operational performance. Gain understanding of business and data requirements, propose, evaluate, and implement solutions while ensuring general ledger balances are correct, transactions are classified properly and reported accurately.
· Update monthly financials with journal entries and provide commentary and suggestions to management
· Respond to inquiries from external auditors regarding financial transactions, balances, and procedures.
· Extensive report preparation, cost analysis, key performance indicator tracking
· Lead and guide the company’s annual budget preparation
· Approve and allocate expenses according to budget
· Provide clerical support to numerous corporate divisions
· Accurately and efficiently oversee the day-to-day processing of grower payables including application, settlement, and payment
· Develops and performs account and cost variance
· Analyzes Production Financial Reports
· Collects and reports financial information in a timely and accurate fashion
· Analyzes and compares prior and current budget to determine prior and target results
· Partners with co-workers on inventory issues

· Ability to meet deadlines while managing/prioritizing multiple tasks
· Advance computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel, including the ability to learn and apply technology quickly
· Excellent written & oral communication and organizational skills (i.e., excellent grammar, ability to proofread, etc.)
· Ability to work effectively with others
· Ability to work extended hours as business requires
Education Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
· Advance Excel skills with knowledge of financial modeling
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or an analytical field
· Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
