Summary of Job Duties:
- Under the direction of the Communications Supervisor 2, Training coordinator, supervises assigned trainees through entire training to ensure they receive complete and accurate training on all aspects of their position including assigning and monitoring work, providing one-on-one and/or group training on program and/or agency policies, procedures and practices;
- a. Following the Communications Training Plan, oversees the day-today instruction of trainees serving as a mentor and technical resource for trainees and other staff; Instructs personnel in proper procedures, codes, and radio etiquette; Instructs personnel in the use of department communications equipment;
- b. Maintains training records; Reviews Communications Officer CTO documentation of trainee progress; Makes recommendations regarding the status of trainees during all phases of training and upon program completion of training phases;
- Attends and participates in meetings to provide input in development of training goals in the following areas: all operations including policy and procedures, emergency, disaster planning and low frequency/high profile events.
- a. Provides analysis of program effectiveness, helps identify department operational problems and recommends and implements viable solutions; provides high level hardware and software technical
- support to communications officers on the following systems; CAD, USER MDC, Telephone System, 911 and integrated systems such as RCIC, LEADS, NLETS, NCIC.
- Researches, develops, and implements training programs; ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Works with Communications personnel to review and update Communication Officer training curriculum.
- Performs duties and responsibilities of Communications Officer as necessary.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs duties of co-workers as workload dictates
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- One (1) year experience as a Communications Officer;
- and/or experience which indicates an advanced knowledge of supervision, a comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, communications and demonstrable ability to supervise others and perform duties of Communications Officer;
- demonstrated ability to effectively educate staff in emergency management work practices, processes, and procedures
- RCIC, NCIC, LEADS, APCO Basic Telecommunications and EMD certifications, APCO CTO
