Overview
NOTE: All current HCS employees interested in pursuing the Assistant Principal role must apply for the Aspiring Assistant Principal LEAD program. The application for the program is available on the internal iCims job board from February 26 - March 10, 2024.
Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations. The assistant principal will also work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents and all school stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the improvement of the school-wide instructional delivery systems.
- Assist the principal with the overall administration of the school.
- Supervise teachers, support staff and departments as assigned by the principal.
- Serve in the absence of the principal.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of the school-wide curriculum.
- Help principal with the disaggregate and analyze of student test scores and reporting systems.
- Promote an overall school climate that enhances student achievement.
- Evaluate teachers and staff, as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Assist with the implementation of IDEA regulations at the school level.
- Develop and maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Lead mandated teacher training as required.
- Participate in required professional growth activities.
- Work productively in diverse school settings.
- Supervise extracurricular activities, as directed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
- Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
- Must currently hold or be immediately eligible for a TN ILL-A/Professional Administrator License.
- Preferred 5 years successful classroom teaching experience verifiable by evaluations and positive recommendations from current supervisor.
- Preferred 2 years successful experience in a school-based leadership position (team leader/department or grade chair/academic coach/principals chain of command/technology contact/athletic director/etc). Must include supervisor for previously-listed activities as a reference. Include a list of activities in your application.
