CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR
Job Summary
The Construction Administrator will visit project sites at intervals determined for each project to observe construction and attend meetings. Primarily, you will document the construction progress with field reports and meeting minutes. Additionally, you will facilitate the flow of construction-related information in the HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. office. HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. conducts a significant portion of total projects as prime designer, which places the firm in the lead role for design and construction services. In such projects, the CA may be directed to schedule and conduct meetings listed below.
In This Role, You Will
Gain and maintain knowledge of project throughout the construction process :
Attend transition meeting and pre-construction conference
Attend construction meetings
Travel to job site
Observe construction to confirm general compliance with contract documents
Evaluate the workmanship and quality of installations
Monitor the presence of stored materials on the project site
Monitor the work in place on the project site
Track progress of Request for Information (RFI); respond or ensure a timely response by engineers
Remain up to date and able to speak to the status of a project / RFI at all times
Track progress of Change Order Request (COR)
Remain up to date and able to speak to the status of a project / COR at all times
Maintain Shop Drawing and RFI Logs and coordinate with Team accordingly.
Provide thorough documentation of project throughout the construction process :
Document the progress of work accurately and completely in field reports according to HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. standards described in the CA guide
Monitor and document changes in scope
Monitor contractor maintenance of As-Built drawings
Make recommendations or certify pay applications
Communicate needs and coordinate with others throughout the construction process.
Schedule site visits appropriate for the agreement / budget and project progress
Review field reports to prepare for field visit; ensure discrepancies listed have been corrected
Document all construction corrections by coordinating with contractor
Present HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. engineers with details of COR when submitted
Request close out documents from contractor
Anticipate deficiencies in work and review work accordingly
Provide timely account of deficiencies in work
Participate in pre-final reviews and final inspection as directed by project manager
Conduct final review to ensure the final punch list has been completed
Issue project closeout requirements list to contractor
Represent HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. throughout the construction process
Present HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. as a team-oriented organization
Solve problems and challenges in a positive, solution-based manner
Remain aware and watch for problems
Ensure construction occurs as it was designed by the HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC. engineers
Provide the specific level of service negotiated by HAMMOND & ASSOCIATES, INC.
Provide objective account of compliance of work with contract documents
You Will Be a Great Fit If
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
10 plus years (Minimum 10 years) of related experience in a consulting engineering environment
Skills / abilities
Settle disputes, handle complaints, resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiate with others
Cooperate and coordinate with other members of your team, architects and owners
Give and follow directions
Recognize ways to adjust ones actions to lower costs for the firm
Demonstrate knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in construction.
Demonstrate knowledge of construction industry in relation to costing / scheduling
