Overview
The Oregon Accounting Assistant - Log provides accounting support for procuring sawlogs for our Oregon sawmills. This person works closely with the foresters, accounting, and sawlog vendors to ensure timely and accurate payments. This position reports to the Resources Finance Manager and will work out of our Resource office in Salem, Oregon.

Responsibilities
- Import and manual data entry to the Log accounting system
- Enter purchase orders, logging contracts, and sales pricing
- Assign branding hammers and load tickets & maintain deck code changes for all Mills
- Process Bi-monthly payment settlements
- Month-end close batch creation
- Communicate with foresters, timber owners, loggers, truckers, etc.
- Cash application and reconciliation of accounts receivable
- Backup for Washington Log Accountant counter-part
- Compile periodic reports as needed
- Other duties as assigned vManagement may modify, add, or reallocate job responsibilities to accommodate the needs of the business better.
Qualifications
- Candidates with a wide range of prior accounting experience will be given preference
- Candidates with experience in the timber industry will be given preference
- Must have a solid understanding of basic Excel and Outlook functionality
- The successful candidate will have acute attention to detail
- Ability to manage stress in the work environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a wide range of audiences (verbal and written).
- Resourceful—ability to problem solve and use critical thinking to troubleshoot issues
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines while remaining focused on business priorities.
- Aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Promote and foster positive work relationships and be honest and straightforward
