What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Specialist position at Hampton Roads Pediatric Dentistry?
We are currently looking for an energetic and motivated Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team!

- Verifying dental insurances, treatment planning and pre authorizations.
- Dental job experience **Experience using Dental Software Dentrix is a strong plus!
- Knowledge in Microsoft applications and Adobe software
- This is a fast-paced position so multi-tasking and great attention to detail are a must!
- Able to communicate between the patient and the insurance company.
- Verify insurance coverage for new patients, as well as update information for existing patients if necessary.
- Process patient routers accordingly to the patients’ insurance carrier
- Must be able to communicate with patients and office obtaining required information
- Oversee ADA coding eligibility based on patients' insurance plan, update coverage table in Dentrix if needed.
- Understanding of dental terms such as co-payments, in-network fees, benefit limitations, and percentage coverages and codes.
- Assist office with questions regarding insurance benefits and frequencies.
- Verify insurance information for new patients and referrals
- Update insurance information for existing patients
- Call to obtain pre-authorization for recommended services and procedures
- Explain to patients what their financial responsibilities are based on their dental benefits.
- All applicants should possess and have demonstrated the ability to work independently, to take initiative, to be resourceful, and to have good judgment with a willingness to accept responsibility.
- Willingness to learn and train to improve your skills on a daily basis.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience)
- Healthcare billing experience (1 year preferred)
- Knowledge of CPT codes and basic medical terminology (preferred)
- Phone communication skills
Compensation
Salary: Starting at 16.50 per hour (based on experience and skills)
