Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Project Manager and Estimator to join our dynamic team. This dual-role position requires expertise in both project management and cost estimation for construction projects. The ideal candidate will oversee the successful completion of construction projects while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They will also provide accurate estimates for costs, materials, and resources at various stages of the project.
Construction Project Management:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Oversee all phases of construction projects, from inception to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, and legal requirements.
Team Leadership:
- Manage on-site construction teams, including laborers, subcontractors, and supervisors.
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring clear communication and efficient workflow.
- Conduct regular meetings with the project team to track progress and resolve issues.
Quality Control:
- Ensure high-quality work throughout the construction process by performing quality checks and inspections.
- Resolve any issues related to workmanship, delays, or safety hazards.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks related to budget, timeline, and scope, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring that all milestones are achieved.
Client Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing progress reports and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimating:
Cost Estimation:
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Develop detailed bills of quantities and cost breakdowns for tenders, bids, and proposals.
Bid Preparation and Tendering:
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare cost-effective, competitive bids.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, negotiating to obtain the best possible terms for the project.
Budget Management:
- Work closely with clients and project stakeholders to establish realistic budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor project costs, identifying any deviations from the budget and implementing corrective actions.
Value Engineering:
- Recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
- Provide alternative solutions for materials and methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in project management (PMP) or estimating (CPE) are a plus.
- Experience:
- Proven experience (5 years) as a Construction Project Manager, Estimator, or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost estimation, and project management techniques.
Skills:
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Sage, Microsoft Office) and estimating tools.
- Strong understanding of construction codes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
