Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Human Resources/Payroll Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing Human Resource and payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and excellent attention to detail to ensure that all payroll transactions are processed accurately. Must be willing to cross train in a busy, fast-paced office.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain employee records related to all aspects of employment.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed for management review.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Assist in the administration of workers' compensation claims and related processes.
- Collaborate with HR on employee relations matters concerning payroll discrepancies or issues.
- Utilize payroll software systems
- Support HR sourcing efforts by providing accurate payroll data for new hires.
- Participate in audits related to payroll processes and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Position involves working with benefits, retirement, payroll, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Human Resources and Payroll Clerk or similar role with a strong understanding of payroll procedures.
- Knowledge and training in principles and practices of personnel administration and applicable state and federal laws.
- Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation processes is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Professional level of handling sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees at all levels regarding payroll inquiries.
- A background in employee relations is mandatory.
