Position Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for timely reporting of monthly financial statements, including oversight of month-end closing procedures, preparation of adjusting journals, workpapers and account reconciliations. The company outsources payroll. Labor is downloaded and posted to the GL and Job Cost sub-ledger. Reconciliation of payroll tax filings to the accounting system is also required.

This role requires collaboration with team members to fulfill full-cycle construction accounting. This includes review of contract billings, compilation of job cost reports and preparation of a preliminary Work-in-Process schedule . Advanced Excel skills, including experience with PowerQuery and sourcing data via ODBC, are a plus. A detail orientated disposition and solid knowledge of manufacturing or construction accounting concepts preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the accounting team on the month-end closing process, including workpapers, journals, account reconciliations and preliminary financial reports.
• Manage an accounting team of two, (AP Manager, AP Administrator) establishing goals and priorities within the department and mentoring and developing roles in accordance with the company's overall growth trajectory
• Integral in supporting year-end, audit process including working with the Controller and VP-Finance to fulfill schedule requirements and documentation of company policies / procedures.Preparation of preliminary Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedule and related Job Cost-to-Complete reports to support Over / Under billings adjustment.
• Compilation of direct and indirect labor burden allocations. Compilation of manufacturing overhead allocations per production line milestones.
• Oversight and month-end reconciliation of subledger control accounts - Accounts Receivable, Sales Tax Receivable, Intercompany Receivables, Prepaid Materials, Purchases Clearing, Inventory, Work-in-Progress (Under / Over Billings), Accounts Payable, Accrued Payroll.
• Support the cash management function by maintaining a daily cash position of bank activity and reconciling this to the book balance. Record cash entries to the accounting system and perform bank reconciliations.
• Derive accrued vacation liability, auditing month-end balances and partial year accruals per union contract. Collaborate with the HR Benefits Administrator for individual adjustments as needed.
• Maintain business insurance schedule and workers' compensation reports.
• Book intercompany transactions and reconcile parent and subsidiary receivable / payable.
• Interface with HR Team to administer benefits and oversee manual checks. Review benefit invoices.
