Job Title : Psychologist

Shift : Part Time (20 hours / week), days

Guaranteed Hours : 20 hours per week

Experience : Two years clinical experience, including one year in a comparable position

License : Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the designated state

Certifications : None specified

Must-Have :

Graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a Doctoral degree in Psychology
Valid driver's license
Minimum age requirement : Must be at least 18 years of age
Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak)

Job Description :

Plan and implement all professional psychological service programs of a non-medical nature in the facility.

Coordinate and direct the activities of personnel engaged in providing psychological services to inmates / residents.

Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.

Collaborate with other clinical staff, such as psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to gather and provide information about patient psychological problems and ensure integration and follow-through of treatment activities.

Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.

Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.

Demonstrate thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities used for individuals in the caseload.

Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.

Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplaincy, and security staff to gather information and understand the reasons for escalation of problem behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.
