This is a full-time position in the Office of the State's Attorney, District Court Division. The position entails the investigation, preparation, and prosecution of criminal cases in Harford County. The Assistant State's Attorney will be under the supervision of the State's Attorney and will serve at the pleasure of the State's Attorney.This is an entry level position. The position will require the screening and preparing of cases for trial, as well as the litigation of those cases, primarily in the District Court of Maryland for Harford County. Typical cases will be misdemeanor crimes charged in the District Court of Maryland for Harford County. Contacting, interviewing, and preparing victims and witnesses for all court appearances is required. The position requires handling pre-trial motions hearings, bail review hearings, post-verdict hearings, as well as drafting all pleadings related to the prosecution of cases.Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school, be admitted to the Maryland Bar as of the date of application, and be authorized to practice law before the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
