SUMMER RECREATION LEADER (TEMP/NO BENEFITS)

• Organizes and leads recreational activities including sports and arts and crafts, evaluating success throughout the lesson and adapting as necessary to insure safety and maximum participation.
• Conducts educational activities including STEM evaluating success throughout the lesson and adapting as necessary to insure safety and maximum participation.
• Answers routine inquiries regarding the camp.
• Enforces program behavior procedures and recommends corrective actions when necessary.
• Distributes and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Keeps building and premises in a neat and safe condition.
• Inspects building/grounds.
• Instructs users on the proper utilization of the facility and equipment.
• Provides instruction and encourages group and individual participation.
• Works in all types of weather with exposure to the outdoors.

• Able to deal with the public cooperatively and courteously

• Ability to maintain effective working relationship with staff

• Ability to conduct public recreation programming

• Ability to understand and follow instructions

• Ability to lift, bend stoop, climb and reach

• Ability to stand for long periods of time

• Ability to work independently

• Ability keep simple records

• Knowledge of sports, arts and crafts, educational programming

• Work may require moderate physical activity and ability to lift 30 pounds

• Individual selected for this position will be required to pass a drug screening, a criminal background check and receive clearance from Child Protective Services.

High School diploma or GED certificate.

Prefer a minimum of one year of volunteer or paid experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting
