What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope:
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the calibration, installation, and testing of various instrumentation and control systems. This role involves collaboration with project design teams, control systems teams, and other departments to ensure instrumentation and control systems are accurately implemented and aligned with project specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in instrumentation, troubleshooting, and a strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in design, documentation, and installation phases.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Pre-Installation Checks:
- Conduct specification checks on instruments to ensure compliance with design standards prior to installation.
Valve Testing:
- Perform stroke testing on new valves to verify operational readiness and accuracy.
Project Design Support:
- Assist with project design by verifying availability of termination points throughout the loop.
Documentation Support:
- Assist with creating loop folders for documentation and help collect completed loop folders for accurate project records.
Calibration & Installation Monitoring:
- Have the ability to calibrate instruments to ensure accuracy and monitor installation as needed to support quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Will work with Maintenance I&E technicians and contractors to perform/coordinate both.
Terminations and Loop Checks:
- Have the ability to perform terminations for instruments, junction boxes, and marshaling cabinets; coordinate with DCS Technicians for terminating DCS cards and conducting loop checks for installation verification.

Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve instrumentation issues, providing technical support as needed.
Independent Work:
- Perform tasks independently with minimal supervision when needed, ensuring adherence to project standards and timelines.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all instrumentation installation complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
Ideal Background
Education: Associate degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
