Summary: Works with the Human Resources Manager (HRM) and the Director of Associate Relations in the implementation, planning, direction, and communications of Human Resource activities in assigned area. Ensures that associate issues and concerns are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner. Monitors treatment of associates for fairness, firmness, and consistency. Responsible for the external recruitment, screening, and presenting of qualified candidates to Senior Transportation Manager, Transportation Manager and Transportation Supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Advises Regional Vice President, District Manager, Human Resources Manager/Director of issues and concerns.

Works with assigned warehouse/spoke as their assigned Human Resource Specialist (HRS). Works with the Human Resources group daily to assist with associate issues; assesses issue; does preliminary research; networks with other H.R. Specialists regarding appropriate process to address issues. Informs and seeks guidance as necessary from Director of Associate Relations, Service Excellence and Front-End Operations or VP of HR. Participates in professional HR organizations.

Works with others to maintain a union free environment and to ensure HR best practices are implemented and maintained. Provides management with an assessment of the HR environment as requested.

Prepares and delivers presentations to management, legal counsel and/or governmental officials regarding HR policies and practices as they relate to assigned area.

Monitors labor relations throughout the region. Advises management on matters related to labor relations. Provides management training on Positive Associate Relations (PAR). Identifies trends and issues. Works with HR management in implementation of response as appropriate.

Meets with Human Resource Manager/Director, other Human Resource Specialists, and Corporate Associate Relations on a regular basis to assist with issues as needed.

Assists management in the disciplinary process, including documentation, action plan, terminations and resolving associate relation issues using the “support-advise-counsel approach.”

Represents Harris Teeter at personnel-related hearings and investigations.

Serves as the primary area contact with legal firms, EEOC and Labor Relations matters.

Analyzes statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develops recommendations for improvement. Analyzes trends in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations, and grievances to determine support or action required adjusting unfavorable trends. Reviews and records data to identify patterns and trends; makes recommendations.

Attends workshops to enhance knowledge of employment practices, laws, labor relations, and other HR competencies.

Conducts associate relations-related training.

Member of Human Resources Special Response Team. Coordinates activities as required.

Performs special assignments and projects in a thorough and timely manner.

Meets Company established attendance policy and performs the essential job functions during scheduled hours and extended work hours when the demand requires.

Works with management and supervisors to identify key personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.

Utilize Internet online recruiting sources and internal company processes to identify and recruit candidates. Check applicant tracking system for previous candidate application or employment.

Adheres to recruiting budget

Seeks new methods of attracting talent to the company that is more cost effective.

Work with recruitment programs to attract applicants and fill specific job openings.

Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for specific job openings.

Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position.

Screens and refers candidates for additional interviews with others in organization.

Schedules and participates in hiring events, job fairs and career days.

Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.

Conducts presentations at schools, organizations, and job fairs regarding the company career opportunities.

Provides information to applicants regarding application process, employment policies, company culture, and open positions.

Instructs applicants on completing employment application process through applicant tracking system, reviews applications for completeness, and may obtain additional information from applicants such as work experience, education, training, skills, and references.

Acknowledges applications and notifies applicants of job opening status.

Arranges interview appointments between interviewers and applicants.

Assist with making offers on the behalf of hiring managers, to include electronic offers in Taleo and completing the necessary pre-employment testing.

Explain Harris Teeter’s bounty program for referring candidates.

Provide weekly reports to Human Resource Manager on placement and status of candidates.

Meets Company established attendance policy and performs the essential job functions during scheduled hours and extended work hours when the demand requires.

Education/Experience:
Four year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources and/or recruiting.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Work Environment:
