Job Summary:
As part of the CLDE Department, the CLDE Instructional Coordinator works under the direction and supervision of the Director of CLDE to fulfill the CLDE Instructional Coordinator essential duties and responsibilities. The CLDE Instructional Coordinator embraces diversity in the school community by demonstrating knowledge of diverse cultures and is dedicated to planning, organizing, and presenting culturally relevant instruction and instructional environments to help students learn curricula content, skills, attitudes, and practices that will contribute to their educational and social development. The CLDE Instructional Coordinator is committed to providing a positive, healthy, safe, and inclusive environment in which the students are treated as individuals through high expectations and an appreciation of differences; and who is invested in communicating with students, parents, teammates, and the community to enhance the learning of students. The CLDE Instructional Coordinator builds professional knowledge to increase student achievement of English language learners by collaborating with building leadership, CLDE teachers, and other district staff to develop their understanding of effective Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLDE) programs, and techniques. The CLDE Instructional Coordinator understands and may assist with the process(es) of identification, assessment, placement, re-designation, and exiting criteria for English learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for increasing CLDE student achievement by collaborating with CLDE teachers, CLDE staff, building and district administrators, and other district staff to develop their understanding of effective CLDE programs and instructional practices. Responsible for assisting the CLDE director in monitoring and evaluating instructional programs developed for English language learners. This position serves as a facilitator in matters pertaining to CLDE services within each assigned school.
Develop CLDE teacher understandings of effective CLDE programs and instructional practices through one-on-one consultation and ongoing teacher professional development. Support CLDE teacher with building school wide capacity of best practices for English learners through co-planning/teaching, planning and facilitating professional development, collaboration with building leadership and district personnel.
Responsible for taking CLDE teachers through the coaching cycle and conducting regular classroom observations to improve teaching practices.
Collaborate with building leadership and staff to develop knowledge about the impact of CLDE learners on building programs, compliance, program implementation, staffing, and review of student programs.
Maintain professional skills and knowledge of CLDE issues and techniques by attending district meetings, conferences, researching, networking, maintaining subscriptions, reading and through continuing education.
Support classroom teachers' knowledge of effective CLDE practices in all content areas and CLDE instructional strategies by meeting in small groups, one-on-one consultation, and professional development.
Assist building leadership and staff with the interviewing and hiring process of CLDE staff.

Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree required.
Over Five years of teaching CLDE or administrative experience and/or relevant work experience related to CLDE.
Experience with WIDA.
Skills, Knowledge and Equipment:
Advanced oral and written communication, English language, and interpersonal relations. Advanced customer service, public relations, critical thinking, problem solving, critical service and public relations skills, project management, and organizational skills. Strong personal computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills. Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job. Thorough knowledge of all aspects in CLDE: WIDA, implementation, compliance, and best practices. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendents, building, and department policies and procedures. Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Valid Colorado Teaching License required.
CLDE Endorsement required.
Principal license preferred.
Valid Colorado driver’s license.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
