Automation Controls Programming Engineer
Mission of the Role
The mission of this role is to support Hartfiel sales with development, integration and programming of automated equipment for machine control.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a technical field of study preferred (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering). Required is an understanding and ability to program controls systems including servos, induction motors, servo drives, motion controllers, PLCs and HMIs. In addition, knowledge of industrial communication protocols is needed, such as Ethernet I/P, CanOpen, Devicenet, Ethercat, etc. Experience with ladder logic, structured text, and other standard programming languages required.

Key Automation Controls Programing Engineer Accountabilities
- Programming and development of automation equipment. This includes writing code in industrial programming languages (ladder, structured text, flow chart, etc.), development of operator interface visualizations, and integration of automated equipment with plant SCADA systems and databases.
- On-site installation of automation equipment products throughout all of Hartfiel territories.
- Responsible for troubleshooting of electrical systems both at Hartfiel and at customer sites.
- Develop electrical schematics through electrical wiring software such as autocad.
- Team and partner with C ontrols Sales Specialist role to review quotes and proposals.
- This role must maintain accurate calendar and log of time spent on projects requiring strong time management skills
- Lead training sessions on an individual or group basis for customers and sales team.
- Communicate project challenges in a timely manner
- Potential travel up to 25%
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Follows all quality processes and procedures as established by Hartfiel Automation.
