MLL/ELL Teacher for Kindergarten-8th Grade
Position Reports to: MLL Coordinator
Position Description: The MLL/ELL Teacher will be responsible for developing lesson plans, providing English Language Development instruction, and assessing both instructional material and student performance. Responsible for communicating student progress with parents/guardians and reporting student performance for local and state records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively support the school-wide mission and vision and Harvest Best Academy charter goals
- Implement instruction that addresses both the grade-level-appropriate English Language Development Standards and Minnesota State Standards
- Collaboratively develop ELD curriculum, instruction, and assessment plans according to best practices in English Language Learner (ELL) education
- Provide indirect support for diverse learners by collaborating with colleagues to differentiate within the general education classroom
- Administer, analyze, and communicate results of ELL assessments to students and families
- Engage in continuous, ongoing professional development
- Actively participate in weekly Professional Learning Community Collaboration sessions
- Engage in the informal and formal observation process
- Carry out professional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota K-12 English as a Second Language Teacher license or the ability to obtain one
- A minimum of a 4-year degree in education or related field of study
Skills and capabilities required:
- Willing and able to provide ELD instruction to students in any grade, K-8
- Desire to seek out innovative and creative ways to instruct and engage students in a virtual setting and/or in a variety of spaces throughout the building
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks
- Comfort and knowledge in utilizing the various features in Zoom, or willingness to learn
- Proficient in computer skills that support lesson planning, delivery of instruction, and data tracking (eg, Google docs/Microsoft word, Google sheets/Microsoft Excel, Nearpod, etc)
- Engage in self-guided learning and troubleshooting of various virtual and/or in-person learning platforms
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
