JOB TITLE: Communications Intern
REPORTS TO: Special Projects Content Manager
SUPERVISES: None
Harvesters—The Community Food Network is a regional food bank that serves 27 counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. With the help of donors, volunteers and more than 900 partner agencies, we acquire, sort and distribute food and other household items to children, families and seniors experiencing food insecurity.
We’re looking for a creative and mission-driven teammate who shares our passion for creating equitable access to nutritious food and addressing the root causes and impact of hunger. As Communications Intern, you will assist our Communications team in raising awareness about food insecurity and the important work we do in the community. The primary focus of this internship is social media, but there may be opportunities to gain experience in other areas depending on the team’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, capture and create content for Harvesters’ social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn
- Monitor social media trends, news and analytics
- Take photos and videos
- Attend Harvesters events as necessary
- Assist the Communications team with other assigned tasks, which could include blogs, press releases and graphic design
Qualifications
- Must be a college graduate or student pursuing a degree in a Communications field (marketing, journalism, public relations, etc.)
- Strong writing and grammar skills that adapt to various audiences
- Understand the basic principles of social media, photography and videography
- Have genuine passion for crafting compelling content and strengthening communities
- Ability to work well individually and with a team
Hours and duration
This internship is for the spring semester of 2025. We are looking for candidates who are willing to commit to a minimum of six hours per week.
Compensation
This internship is unpaid.
