What You’ll Do:
As our Financial Controller, you’ll oversee all financial operations with minimal supervision, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic growth. Reporting to the Executive Director, your key responsibilities include:
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for all Housing Authority funds and activities.
- Advise leadership with financial insights, budgets, and audit preparation.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, and inventory controls.
- Develop and manage the annual budget with department heads.
- Prepare and submit HUD reports (PIC, REAC, FASS, etc.) and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead fiscal policy development, audit coordination, and asset repositioning efforts.
- Manage the Non-Profit Arm’s annual 990 submission and other financial reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: 5 years of progressive accounting experience in governmental, non-profit, and GAAP accounting.
Bondable: Must be eligible for fidelity bonding due to the financial nature of the role, and pass a criminal and general background check.
Mobility: Must have a valid Mississippi driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, as driving is an essential function (e.g., banking and related duties). Reasonable accommodations, such as arranging a non-CHA driver, may be considered.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs regularly and 35 lbs occasionally as an essential function (e.g., handling financial records or equipment), with reasonable accommodations provided as needed.
Communication: Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information, with reasonable accommodations available as needed.

- CPA license
