SUMMARY
HAVEN is committed to a team management approach. Although the Executive Director leads and coordinates the team, the Rural DV/SA Advocate is an integral part of the coordinated team effort. The Rural DV/SA Advocate will provide services and support to victims and survivors of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in rural communities, including. Provide immediate crisis response and while meeting the immediate need and long-term goals of safety and self-sufficiency. ; this candidate will maintain statistics; perform required administrative duties; participate in community awareness activities; provide outreach to underserved populations, working with women, children and men; develop relationships with partner agencies; and assist with developing resources to serve victims of intimate partner violence in Sherman, Wheeler and Gilliam Counties. In addition, This position requires shared rotated, week long shifts, for after hour/weekend on call/response through HAVEN’s 24/7 Crisis line.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Provides services to victims and survivors of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in Sherman, Wheeler and Gilliam Counties, including crisis response and long-term planning and support around safety and self-sufficiency.
· Provides outreach to underserved populations through community awareness activities.
· Partners and builds relationships with community resources to strengthen services available in applicable counties.
JOB DUTIES:
Direct Services
· To include, but are not limited to; Provides Crisis Intervention, safety planning, peer counseling, support and advocacy in a variety of settings and locations; including HAVEN, Oregon Department of Human Services, The Dalles Police Department, Wasco County Courthouse, Medical Offices, Hospitals, etc. to provide assistance in accessing resources in Sherman, Wheeler and Gilliam Counties; may require travel.
· Provide after hour crisis line support as scheduled; to include Medical/Hospital crisis response accompaniment.
· Provide educational information and outreach in the form of networking with local individuals and organizations in Sherman, Wheeler and Gilliam Counties.
· Develop, maintain and work closely with community partners to identify needs specific to rural and frontier communities and underserved populations in those communities; such as Native American, Spanish, teens/youth/children.
- Represent HAVEN with respect and positively in the community, while both on duty and off.
· Represent the mission, values and philosophy of HAVEN to program participants, staff, volunteers, HAVEN leadership and to the general public, both on duty and off.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in related work, preferred but not required.
Training and experience with/or experience in domestic/dating violence, sexual assault and stalking issues (IPV) and/or crisis intervention.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Core Advocate Certification Required- Obtainable after hire
Other trainings as required to maintain compliance with grant requirements
Requires a valid Oregon Driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
No other licensures are needed for the position

- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of domestic violence/sexual assault/stalking/dating violence (IPV), especially in underserved communities.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred; Excellent oral and written skills; competent with office technology
- Ability to provide advocacy by phone and in person with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work well with women, children and men of varied racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic and sexual preference groups, and individuals who are developmentally disabled.
- Ability to provide informative community presentations and/or training about intimate partner violence and HAVEN services.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
