A Day in the life of a Quality Assurance Technician:
As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will support all Quality Assurance activities related to maintaining wildbrine and governmental food safety standards. This role performs tasks associated with GMPs, HACCP, and continuous improvement programs. In addition, this person will work with management on various QA related projects.
Accountable for:
Quality Control Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications, including appearance, taste, texture, and packaging.
Sampling and Testing: Collect samples of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods for laboratory analysis, such as microbiological testing, chemical analysis, and sensory evaluation, to verify compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of quality control tests, inspection results, and product specifications using electronic databases or paper-based systems, ensuring traceability and documentation compliance.
Non-Conformance Management: Identify and document non-conforming products, ingredients, or processes, and initiate corrective actions, such as quarantining products, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures to address quality issues.
HACCP and Food Safety Compliance: Monitor and enforce adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other food safety regulations to prevent foodborne hazards and ensure consumer safety.
Equipment Calibration and Verification: Calibrate and verify measuring instruments, thermometers, pH meters, and other equipment used in quality control testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements.
Necessary Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or related fields is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience may be accepted for entry-level positions.
Proficiency in conducting quality control tests, interpreting test results, and using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis. Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques and quality management tools is advantageous
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing quality inspections, recording data, and documenting findings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve quality performance.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for conveying quality requirements, reporting findings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve quality objectives.
Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks, prioritizing workload, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, production schedules, and quality control procedures to support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure customer satisfaction.
Preffered Qualifications:
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as HACCP, allergen, pest control and sanitation
- Previous experience in quality assurance or quality control roles within the food manufacturing industry
