Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical systems that support the function of our electromagnet systems. This will include research and development opportunities, design for manufacturability as well as developing testing standards for the equipment. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and is based in Maple Heights, Ohio.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs and develops AC-DC and DC-DC control systems, battery backups, and rectifiers for magnets per industry and company standards that service the steel production, steel servicing and recycling industries.
- Supports Sales, Purchasing and Manufacturing in quoting, specification and assembly of standard and custom electrical assemblies.
- Develops and releases product drawings, manufacturing processes and service manuals by soliciting information from the market, sales, customers and factory floor.
- Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
- Create product plans and timelines to ensure our products stay relevant in the market while maintaining or improving our cost position and reliability.
- Provides technical support to sales, manufacturing and customers as required.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Follows proper engineering processes including design testing, validation, BOM structure and ECR/ECN processes.
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering.
- 5 or more years of related job experience with fundamental knowledge and design and development of control systems and circuits in industrial applications.
- Ability to efficiently organize, communicate and execute to meet targets in a job shop environment.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Physically able to complete field installations or troubleshooting as related to product validation.
- Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office, Solidworks (or similar CAD package) as well as BOM management in either ERP system or PDM system.
Travel Required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Domestic and International Travel approximately 15%.
