Job Summary and Qualifications

The Quality Abstractor has individual responsibility for abstracting data as defined by the various measure sets/indicators. This data may be entered into computer database and/or Microsoft Word, Excel, or manually entered on a form. Monitor for compliance to maintain hospital standards of care in accordance with JCAHO, state, and federal regulations.

What you will do in this role:

• Systematically abstracts specified data that is complete, accurate, and consistent.
• Concurrently reviews all required patient records for compliance with core measures indicators.
• Demonstrates and facilitates compliance with JCAHO, CMS, AHCA requirements regarding timeliness of submission of data
• Exhibits responsibility and accountability for assigned work, works independently
• Must balance multiple tasks/projects while meeting organizational standards
• Must be extremely detail oriented and able to follow through on all assigned tasks
• Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruption
• Uses various software programs to develop, generate and update documentation
• Reviews medical records according to criteria and outcome data identified
• Demonstrates excellent skills in planning, organizing, and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operation of the nursing department.
• Understands all functional areas of the hospital.

What qualifications you will need:

• Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree
• Abstracting experience preferred
• 3-5 years clinical experience
