Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Throughput Coordinator, you will coordinate the assignment of patient care beds within the hospital. The Throughput Coordinator collaborates with multiple departments within the hospital and facilitates regularly scheduled bed management meetings with hospital staff to identify and communicate bed utilization issues. The Throughput Coordinator will identify, trend, and report barriers to patient throughput.
* You will evaluate and implement patient flow to ensure maximization of hospital resources.
* You will evaluate, monitor, and improve the patient flow program effectiveness as it relates to utilization review, resource management, and discharge planning and care coordination.
* You will manage Patient Flow department to include development of proper staffing levels, management of expenses in line with budgeted expectations, development of appropriate departmental policies and hospital policies to address regulatory requirements.
* You will facilitate the ongoing training and education of staff to meet regulatory, hospital, and department policies
* You will serve as the educational leader to physicians and employees as it relates to resource management and patient flow.
* You will collaborate with the One Call transfer center process and implement actions for increased throughput.
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
* 5 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting – required
* Customer experience - required
* Experience in bed management - preferred
Education
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – required
Licenses and Certifications
* Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy
* National Specialty Certification - preferred
