Job Title: Automotive Dealership Controller

Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Helena Motors automotive brands, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the efficient management of company resources. This role involves close collaboration with the CFO and leadership to provide strategic financial guidance and to support overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timely financial statements.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
- Monitor financial performance against goals and recommend corrective actions.
- Accounting Operations:
- Oversee all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Strategic Planning:
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and technology improvements.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Ensure effective communication within the finance team and across departments.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Preferred 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective leadership and communication abilities.
