Job Summary
The Electrical Supervisor directs hourly electricians and other employees in all activities pertaining to facility (surface and underground) electrical maintenance and operations, including maintenance of surface mill, electrical systems, PLC systems, hoists, conveyors, drying and screening of fine rock salt, the rail loading operation, and the loading of bulk trucks. This role also ensures the electrical maintenance integrity of all facets of facility operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Directs all foremen, employees, and contract maintenance to properly plan and execute maintenance of all facility assets while complying with accepted safety procedures and the union contract.
• Evaluates the conditions of all facility milling, packaging, and material handling production equipment and recommends scheduling and overseeing of major maintenance.
• Reports to the plant General Manager daily. Discusses maintenance activities, production levels, all problems such as mill and maintenance while providing input for solutions.
• Reviews and approves preventative maintenance, production and other reports prepared by subordinates.
• Maintains workplace in a manner to ensure safe operations and minimize MSHA citations.
• Monitors budget performance and directs operation to maintain acceptable budget variances
• Develops and executes electrical projects or electrical portions of projects
Work Environment
• Must be able to work productively in a group environment.
• Must be able to work additional hours as required.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds", must wear PPE, must navigate in and out of offices, very hot, cold, or wet outdoor environments. Must be able to work in an underground mine.
Essential Job Functions
• Capable of providing hands on assistance in all aspects of the facility operation including inspecting work areas for safety hazards and mitigation as necessary.
• Supervises the inspection of salt spillage under conveyor belts and along walkways; cleaning requires the employee to use a shovel to remove salt – this would call for the employee to climb ladders, bend, twist and lift the loaded shovel.
• Supervises the inspection of electricians or other employees in major repairs.
• Supervises the inspection of equipment operators and direct them in areas of hazards.
• 3-phase industrial power experience – 480V, high voltage experience up to 12.47kV preferred
• High voltage distribution and transformer experience strongly preferred
• Excels in project coordination and detailed planning.
• Possess mechanical aptitude and knowledge of maintenance and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to comprehend simple accounting practices, procedures, and reporting.
• Able to maintain efficient operation while enforcing high level manufacturing practices and safety rules, including following MSHA requirements.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Journeyman / Master Electrician certification and/or Electrical Engineering degree preferred2-5 years progressive industrial supervision.
• Electrical engineering and / or experience in electrical design preferred
• Minimum 1 year Maintenance and Reliability supervision
• Strong electrical controls experience
• Maintenance and troubleshooting experience
• PLC programming experience
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
• Strong maintenance background with hands on expertise resolving complex problems.
• Strong electrical expertise to include troubleshooting, power distribution and plc experience.
• Strong hoist and shaft knowledge and experience solving complex problems.
• Strong understanding and experience of MSHA regulations.
