General Statement of Duties

Provides screening, counseling, case management, training or other specific treatment or rehabilitation activities as directed for the assigned program; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Provides intensive case support services to youth and their families. Provides linkage to appropriate levels of care. Monitors services that are being provided to youth and ensures unmet needs are routinely addressed. Facilitates psychoeducation groups. Completes mental health and substance use assessments to recommend appropriate level of treatment. Aid caregivers in developing strategies to support their youth in the community. Knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders and appropriate clinical interventions. Knowledge of community agencies with an emphasis on FAPT and services available.
Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of treatment and / or rehabilitation of individuals with an intellectual disability or mental illness; knowledge of mental health and / or intellectual disabilities and related problems; good interpersonal skills which include the ability to empathize, demonstrate respect, communicate, reflect feelings and confront constructively; ability to relate freely to and work effectively with clients and professionals from all levels of the community; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for any helping relationship; ability to write concisely and coherently; demonstrated ability to use good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required : QMHP certification required; TB Screening and Child Abuse Registry Check required upon hire.
