What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety and Compliance Coordinator position at Herd Pack, LLC?
Herd Pack, LLC and its affiliate, AgRenew, operate in the animal by products and agricultural sector as an exporter of animal hides and provider of rendering services. We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proactive Safety and Compliance Coordinator to manage and enforce workplace safety regulations, ensure adherence to Environmental and storm water and wastewater regulations, and minimize risk across the organization. The individual in this role will work closely with various teams to develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures that ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Programs
- Will implement the company safety programs and be responsible for enforcement and training for the 3 divisions of the company. This includes training, documentation, insurance communications, OSHA compliance, policy developments and enforcement.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards or areas of non-compliance.
- Recommend safety improvements, risk mitigation strategies, and emergency response plans.
- Develop, review, and enforce safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensure proper training is provided to employees regarding safety standards, proper use of equipment, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, accident reports, training logs, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure that all safety-related documentation is available for audits and regulatory inspections.
2. Environmental Compliance
- Onsight monitoring of State storm water permits compliance for two facilities.
- Work with consultants for compliance with permits and documentation requirements.
- Assist with wastewater projects and management of wastewater operations and testing.
3. Safe Feed HACCP
- Implementation and monitoring of company’s Safe Feed/HACCP plan. Monitor FDA compliance.
- Work with consultants to implement prerequisite programs and procedures.
4. Quality Controls
- Perform weekly quality checks and manage lab analysis
5. Work Manuals/Instruction
- Manage work manuals and training documents
- Align operational documentation with management goals and business outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in work instructions, safety, and compliance programs.
- Manage Company weekly bonus programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in safety management is a plus.
- Proven experience in a safety, compliance, or regulatory role, ideally in a related industry.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, FDA, Storm/Wastewater, Environmental and other regulatory standards.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
The role requires one day per week travel for inspections, training sessions, or audits to our facility in Edmonton, Kentucky.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
