What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Architect position at HERE Technologies?
What's the role?
HERE has placed the development of a Location Platform as a central building block of its strategy. Development of this platform and the services and products on this platform will be driven by three functions: Product, Engineering and Architecture. HERE is looking for a Principal Architect - m/f/x in Poland to lead the Design and Development of data products, services and solutions on the HERE platform.
Your responsibility will be to drive the success of the HERE platform, products and services through deliberate, clear, and consistent architecture, system design, and communication. You will ensure that automation and testing is on par with our platform quality.
You will be the technical subject matter expert for multiple engineering teams, working with them in an agile and inclusive manner.
As part of the HERE platform Architecture group, we are a group of exceptionally talented hands-on doers who work passionately to apply cutting-edge and open-source technologies to build a location and spatial products and solutions. We work in close partnership with respective product and engineering teams to ensure our shared success.
We enable our teams and our customers to build targeted solutions using HERE Location Platform. Our group focuses on content such as Places, Parking, Electric Vehicles Charging Points, Safety Cameras, Fuel Stations. Our customers range from automotive to tech, media, telecommunications and retail.
Who are you?
You bring a hands-on pragmatic approach and an analytical mind-set with a sound theoretical basis. A background in developing complex distributed cloud systems is very beneficial to be able to successfully lead the architecture work:
- 10 years of experience in delivering software products or systems in various roles, experience in lead engineer or lead architect roles as well as designing distributed cloud services with high availability and billions of transactions
- 3 years in architect roles
- Thought Leader and expert in API design, data pipelines, scripting, and deployment and testing automation
- Ability to communicate complex systems and solutions in an easy-to-understand way to non-technical stakeholders in English (written/speech)
- Experience in Kubernetes and Docker technology, understanding of microservices architectural style and stream and batch processing
- Experience in AWS cloud technology
- Experience with operating and maintaining large scale distributed systems
- Fluency in one or more JVM-based languages
- Hands-on work with engineering teams
Nice to have:
- Fluency in architectural areas of security, network, high-availability, reliability
- Experience with location technology
