Herndon Surgery Center/Monday though Friday
POSITION TITLE: Receptionist/Front Office - Monday through Thursday
REPORTS TO: Business Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Front Office
SCOPE OF POSITION:
- To greet all patients in a pleasant professional manner
- To provide an efficient process in assisting patients.
- To prepare patient charts properly to assist in clinic flow.
- To provide correct information to patients verbally and via mail.
- To assist in processing all emergency patients by initiating paperwork flow and informing all necessary personnel.
- To be willing to assist in other areas of the center as assigned when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years general office experience; telephone skills, computer knowledge and basic office skills.
- Bilingual preferred, but not required.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for reading and following all Herndon Surgery Center policies and procedures, including but not limited to disaster, fire, bloodborne pathogen, infection and safety policies.
- Maintain acceptable standards of practice in the front office of the facility. Accountable to Business Administrator for all patient care and paperwork flow. Identifies and participates with other staff to meet patient needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to schedule changes when necessary.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain competency and knowledge by participating in continuing education, in-service and conferences.
Job Duties:
- Check patients in as they present at the counter.
- Ensure signature on Financial Policy Agreement and HIPAA Consent.
- Make photocopies of insurance card, signed Financial Agreement and picture ID.
- Verify patient’s ID matches patient information.
- Verify the correct spelling of the patient's name against the demographic (Patient
- Information Sheet) and photo ID.
- Prepare new patient charts, as needed.
- Tear down charts.
- Filing
- Receive payments and ensure receipt is provided.
- Escort patient families to Recovery as requested.
- Make corrections to Consents as requested from Surgeon/Nurse.
- Answer phone and distribute calls accordingly.
- Data Entry
Skills: Able to perform job duties as described above.
- Meets all requirements in competency checklist at satisfactory level.
- Able to have good interpersonal skills with patients and other staff.
- Accuracy in all areas.
- Must be able to multitask
- Ability to plan ahead and adjust for workload
