What are the responsibilities and job description for the Northwest Applied Manufacturing Fuel Tank Fabricator position at Hewes Marine Company, Inc.?
The Fuel Tank Fabricator is a welder with proven skills in metal fabrication that include Aluminum, MIG & TIG welding. This position would also support CNC routing, plasma, and brake press operations. This position is responsible for fabricating fuel tanks utilizing various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations from engineered drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. Additionally, this position will cross-train with our electrical department to provide occasional support for a variety of manufacturing processes related to the assembly of passive electrical products such as wiring harnesses.
Examples of Responsibilities:
· Interpretation of mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols.
· Proficient in CNC plasma cutting and CNC router operations.
· Proficient in the operation of Cincinnati 230T Hydraulic Press Brake.
· Proficient in assigned welding techniques including Aluminum, MIG, and TIG.
· Working knowledge of fixturing.
· Working knowledge of set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
· Proficiency with conventional and precision measuring instruments.
· Welding equipment maintenance.
· Finish grinding applications using manual and power tool methods.
· Maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
· Willingness to cross train and facilitate support to the electrical assembly side of NWAM as needed or other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Training provided.
Education/Experience:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Successful completion of an internal welding test.
· Previous experience in aluminum welding is strongly preferred.
· Previous experience running CNC based plasma cutter, router, and press brake strongly preferred.
· Safety minded with ability and willingness to wear required PPE such as welding hoods, respirators, ear and eye protection, and steel-toed boots.
Physical Requirements:
Welding and Electrical
· This position requires continual periods of standing, walking, and lifting.
· Frequent bend / stoop / squat / kneel and occasionally reach above shoulders.
· Occasionally push/pull to move parts/equipment to proper location.
· Lifting and carrying occasionally up to 35 lbs. from floor to waist – max distance generally less than 100 ft.
· Constant manual dexterity, occasional fine finger manipulation, and gripping vice grips and clamps.
· Ability to work with and manipulate small electrical components such as wires, connectors, fittings, and breakers.
· Efficiency in the use of hand tools used for metal fabrication and the assembly of electrical products such as hand crimpers, cutters, pliers, screw guns, drivers, wrenches, grinders, etc...
· Workers may exert up to 50 lbs. force repeatedly while moving, lifting, or positioning objects.
· Occasionally climb ladders.
· Kneeling and crawling are occasionally required.
PPE: PAPR weld hood and turbo, leather gloves, weld coat, safety glasses, crush proof footwear, hearing protection. Footwear purchase assistance available. Other PPE provided by NWAM
