Are you excited to support the next generation of innovators and creators? As a Spring Break S.T.E.A.M. Camp Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in creating an engaging and dynamic camp experience for our students. From helping facilitate hands-on, project-based activities to fostering curiosity in STEM, art, and writing, you’ll ensure the classroom is a space of exploration and creativity.
You’ll work closely with the lead instructor, providing essential support to help everything run smoothly. With a fully prepared curriculum already in place, your role will focus on assisting with classroom activities, guiding students, and maintaining a positive and fun learning environment!
Our camp features three mixed-age classes for students in grades K-6. Two classes have a maximum of 8 students, and the third accommodates up to 12 students—ensuring a supportive and manageable setting. Each class is led by a teacher and supported by an assistant, working together to maximize student engagement and success.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to guide students through engaging, interdisciplinary projects.
- Provide hands-on classroom support, ensuring a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist students in completing a variety of S.T.E.A.M.-focused projects, fostering curiosity and creativity.
- Help create and maintain a high-energy, enthusiastic atmosphere that inspires a love for learning and innovation.
- Supervise and mentor small groups of students during camp activities and outdoor play, ensuring their engagement and well-being.
- Support administrative tasks related to camp operations as needed.
- Assist during drop-off, pick-up, lunch breaks, and outdoor play to ensure smooth transitions and a supportive environment.
- Help with cleaning, resetting, and preparing camp facilities before and after each session to maintain a functional and organized space.
- Attend scheduled preparation and training sessions to ensure readiness for camp activities.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from or is currently enrolled in post-secondary education (graduates and undergraduates).
- Previous teaching/tutoring/mentoring/coaching experience would be great, especially exposure to different learning styles (formal or informal).
- Be comfortable working with elementary aged students in a classroom environment.
- Background or experience in STEM disciplines such as block-based coding, robotics, or introductory electronics is highly preferred.
- Have a passion for hands-on, project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching.
- Enthusiastic, positive, and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the Lead Teacher, support staff, and students.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage with parents.
- A commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to the unique needs of a camp setting.
Availability:
- Spring Break S.T.E.A.M. Camp is Monday through Friday from March 17 - 28
- Daily work schedule 7:15 am - 3:15 pm
Salary:
$17.00 per hour
