What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Hickory Kennels?
Hickory Kennels is looking for part-time Kennel Technicians to join our staff. If you are a diligent worker who loves animals, this may be a great job for you. Experience is preferred, but we are more than happy to train someone who has the potential to be a great addition to our team.
Working in a kennel can be noisy and messy so potential employees need to be aware of what kennel work entails. In addition to daily cleaning, our Kennel Technicians are expected to assist with bathing pets and trimming nails, walking/exercising dogs in all weather conditions and provide enrichment time to our feline boarders. This job is physically demanding. You'll certainly get your daily steps in!
A keen eye to any changes in a pet’s behavior or demeanor including, but not limited to, changes in eliminations or feeding habits is crucial to the well-being of our boarders. Medications need to be administered to some of the pets that stay with us, making attention to detail even more imperative.
Our kennel staff is also required to work weekends, evenings and holidays. The job also requires one to be able to communicate effectively with owners and our veterinary staff and to be able to sit, stand, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
