Job Description
The Medical Billing Specialist is an instrumental part of keeping the business functioning smoothly. The incumbent is responsible for generating accounts receivable revenue, processing claims, following up on claims, maintaining collection notes, submitting provider notifications, and balancing all aspects of accounts receivable. The Medical Billing Specialist is required to know and apply the rules and regulations of state and federal regulatory agencies and other certified agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Verify Insurance for all new referrals.
- Process authorizations and reauthorizations for all insurance types.
- Review admission charts for completeness.
- Review status of claims; correct errors or holds as necessary.
- Actively participates in regualar hospice training.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in business administration, or a related field preferred..
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in medical billing ,preferably in hospice.
- Excellent computer skills required including billing software programs, preferable Medicare's systems.
- Strong interpersonal sills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team releationship.
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accomodations.
- VMust have current New York State Driver's license.
- Must meet all local health regulations.
