Summary: The HR Coordinator will assist the Employee Relations Manager in day-to-day operations by managing tasks related to onboarding, compliance, safety, payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, and recruitment. The role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive employee information.
A successful person in this role will have a strong desire to learn and grow within the HR function. The ideal candidate genuinely cares about the company, is a problem-solver, and has a strong desire to understand the company’s big picture—how departments interrelate and how their work impacts overall success. This person will seek additional responsibilities, proactively present ideas to improve processes and procedures, and suggest innovative approaches. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to excellence are key traits for success in this role.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare for new hires by setting up devices, establishing new login credentials, assembling welcome bags, and ordering business cards.
- Create presentations and communications for internal use.
- Perform HRIS data entry and scanning to maintain accurate records.
- Manage timekeeping tasks.
- Support FMLA processes by tracking requests and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Assist with recruitment by reviewing candidates and preparing relevant documentation.
- Send regular staff update emails as directed.
- Manage apparel and merchandise, including tracking inventory, fulfilling orders, and sending payroll deductions.
- Coordinate safety initiatives and track compliance.
- Assist with benefits enrollments and census updates.
- Maintain and update the company’s auto policy driver list.
- Other administrative and task-oriented duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Sound judgment and the ability to approach sensitive topics with tact, professionalism, and empathy.
- Ability to recognize nuance in employee relations issues and respond thoughtfully.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Advanced Excel knowledge (macros, Pivot Tables, etc.) is a huge plus.
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now NextGen is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous administrative experience in an HR or office environment.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work, and for occasional local travel as needed.
Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour

Physical Requirements:

Employees in this position are required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
Working Conditions:
The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- Full-time. Initially, in-office Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
- Potential for hybrid schedule upon completion of a minimum 90-day probationary period.
Travel:
Local travel within a 5-mile radius for business-related errands may be required at times, but will be rare. Employees who utilize their personal vehicle for business-related travel are reimbursed for mileage at the current year’s IRS mileage rate.
