SUMMARY
Responsible for insuring that the assigned building is kept clean and sanitary. In addition, this position will be responsible for custodial coverage during athletic and special campus events and for securing the campus buildings after these events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Assure assigned building is kept clean and sanitary by performing the following activities:
- Maintain the interior of the assigned building or housing unit by:
- Dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures;
- Washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork;
- Scrubbing and waxing floors;
- Cleaning and vacuuming carpeting, furniture and drapes;
- Resupplying rest rooms;
- Replacing light bulbs;
- Maintain building accessibility and appearance by:
- Picking up papers and trash;
- Removing ice and snow from walkways and steps;
- Painting;
- Remove trash by:
- Emptying trash containers;
- Transporting materials to disposal area;
- Keep cleaning equipment operational by:
- Following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines;
- Reporting needed repairs to the Director of Facilities;
- Perform minor equipment and building repairs by following manufacturer's instructions and maintenance procedures;
- Report additional equipment and building repair needs to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor;
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment inventory by:
- Checking stock to determine inventory level;
- Anticipating and reporting needed supplies;
- Maintain the interior of the assigned building or housing unit by:
- Provide Custodial coverage during athletic events and during special events held on campus. Following these events, secure the building/campus by:
- Insuring that buildings are clear of students, employees, and the general public before locking down the building;
- Determining that individuals remaining in the buildings after lock down have authority to remain;
- Reporting any security related problems immediately to the proper authorities;
- Maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in custodial, maintenance, or cleaning related fields. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without close supervision.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other
Should have a service oriented and positive attitude toward the students, faculty, and community people who interact with the College.
