Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Government Law Specialist to join our team as a County Attorney. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the Highland County Board of Supervisors and other constitutional officers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the Board of Supervisors on matters related to local government law, including solid waste removal, budgetary matters, and zoning regulations.
- Represent the County in General District Court, Circuit Court, and higher appellate courts as necessary.
- Negotiate leases, contracts, deeds, and easements on behalf of the County.
- Collect and sue for delinquent Enterprise Fees and EMS fees.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Current Virginia Bar license.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in local government law.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to understand complex legal issues and write clear, concise reports.
