The RN-CCU provides direct patient care within the Critical Care Unit, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care, including medication administration and patient education. This role advocates for patient well-being and requires critical thinking skills as well as relevant certifications and licenses.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Reports to Director CCU and Emergency Services.
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required.
- Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Required Skills: American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended on hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment. NRP required within 90 days of employment.
- License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
- Minimum Work Experience: One year experience as RN in CCU and/or Emergency Services setting preferred.
