The RN-CCU provides essential patient care in the Critical Care Unit, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and execute care interventions.
Job Description:
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director CCU and Emergency Services
Performs a variety of tasks including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments as needed.
Documents patient care given and ensures that all necessary information is recorded accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitors and records patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended on hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment. NRP required within 90 days of employment.
Licenses/Certifications: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
Work Experience: One year experience as RN in CCU and/or Emergency Services setting preferred.
