RN-Emergency Services at HighPoint - Riverview Regional Medical Center Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Emergency Services provides direct patient care and nursing leadership, applying critical thinking and communication skills to manage patient flow and collaborate with care providers. This role encompasses planning and executing patient care interventions, monitoring and documenting patient conditions, and providing education and support to patients and families.
Description:Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process within applicable scope and standards of practice. The experienced RN will also provide nursing leadership for a specific area or unit, utilizing good communication and critical thinking skills to resolve problems and coordinate patient flow.
Reports to: Director CCU and Emergency Services
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Works as RN Charge as needed, supervising nursing and support staff during assigned shifts. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow.
Handles With Care participation annually or CPI participation every 2 years.
Qualifications:Minimum Education:
Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills:
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 12 months of employment. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required within 12 months of employment.
TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred.
Required Skills:
License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
Minimum Work Experience:
One year experience as RN and/or RN Charge Nurse in Emergency Services setting preferred.
