The RN-Medical/Surgical provides direct patient care in a hospital setting, utilizing the nursing process to deliver effective medical treatments and interventions.
Responsibilities include medication administration, patient monitoring, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. The role also involves patient advocacy, education, and support for their physical and emotional well-being.
Description
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director of Nursing
Performing plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Observes central monitor screens, interprets, recognizes and records changes in patient's rhythms and notifies nurse/physician as appropriate.
Handle with Care participation annually or CPI participation every 2 years.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills:
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of employment.
Required Skills:
License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure
Minimum Work Experience:
Six months to one year experience as RN. New Graduates will be considered.
