The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in a medical/surgical unit, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to established standards. Responsibilities include administering medication, monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, and collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient support and education.
Description:
Delivers high-quality patient care through effective utilization of the nursing process.
Reports to: Director of Nursing
Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care procedures.
Documents patient care given.
Maintains accurate records of patient condition and communicates as necessary to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patients and families, providing education as needed.
Serves as an advocate for patients' physical and emotional well-being.
Monitors cardiac rhythms, recognizing and reporting changes as appropriate.
Participates in CPI training annually or every two years.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of employment.
License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
Minimum Work Experience: Six months to one year experience as an RN, new graduates considered.
