Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Facility Manager to oversee daily operations at our dynamic, multi-line cannabis manufacturing facility. This role will lead production across several product verticals—edibles, beverages, vapes, and prerolls—ensuring each line runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with Arizona state cannabis regulations.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and problem-solver with experience managing production teams, tracking complex inventory systems, and delivering high-volume output without sacrificing quality. You’ll work cross-functionally with compliance, inventory, client success, and leadership to keep things running on time and on spec.

This role requires a high level of organizational agility, prioritization, and collaboration. A successful Production Manager in this environment thinks both in the day-to-day and in rolling 30/60/90-day windows, building stability while remaining responsive to shifting business needs.

Responsibilities:

Production Oversight & Scheduling

The Production Facility Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously adjusting the facility’s production schedule to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant output across multiple product lines (edibles, beverages, prerolls, and vapes). This includes:

  • Weekly Scheduling: Building and maintaining a detailed weekly production calendar that accounts for active client orders, staffing levels, equipment availability, and required compliance hold times.
  • Production Forecasting: Creating forward-looking production plans (2–6 weeks out) based on projected client needs, known order patterns, and sales projections. The Manager will collaborate with the Client Success & Compliance Manager and business owner to refine estimates and prepare the team for upcoming demand.
  • Balancing Client Expectations & Operational Realities: Managing client urgency alongside real-world constraints such as slower-than-ideal hourly labor pacing, line capacity, and supply fluctuations. This requires constant communication, creative problem-solving, and adjusting workloads dynamically to meet the highest number of client needs possible.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitoring throughput rates across different product types and lines to understand realistic daily output and adjust expectations accordingly. This includes identifying production bottlenecks and recommending process improvements to increase efficiency over time.
  • Scenario Planning & Contingency Management: Anticipating production impacts due to unexpected labor callouts, equipment downtime, or material shortages, and building in buffers to mitigate disruption.
  • Cross-Department Communication: Communicating scheduling changes proactively to staff, leadership, and the Client Success Manager to ensure everyone is aligned on shifting timelines.

Team Leadership & Staff Scheduling

  • Supervise a team of direct-report supervisors and hourly production staff.
  • Lead daily huddles, production floor walk-throughs, and team check-ins.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to match production demand.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to maintain a high-performance, safety-first culture.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Oversee all production inventory, including cannabis input, dry goods, packaging, and ingredients.
  • Collaborate with client manager to track consumption and replenish supplies proactively.
  • Ensure accurate inventory movements and usage tracking via various systems or seed-to-sale software.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure production practices are compliant with Arizona state cannabis regulations and internal quality control standards.
  • Work closely with QA/Compliance teams to ensure batch records, labeling, and packaging meet required standards.
  • Support preparation and documentation for internal and state audits.

Cross-Team Coordination

  • Collaborate with Client Success and Post-Production teams to align on deadlines, product specs, and any special client requirements.
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings to ensure production is coordinated with sales, compliance, and fulfillment goals.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, food production, or cannabis production environment; cannabis experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams in a fast-paced, detail-critical environment
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop timelines, track progress, balance competing priorities, and adapt plans quickly based on shifting resources or goals
  • Experience creating and maintaining production schedules across multiple product lines or departments
  • Familiarity with inventory systems, supply chain management, and production line efficiency metrics
  • Understanding of cannabis regulations, compliance requirements, and safety protocols (METRC experience a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and interpersonal — with the ability to coordinate across departments and levels
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-informed decisions under pressure
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace and production scheduling tools
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and calm under pressure with a problem-solving mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with food or beverage manufacturing equipment and safety protocols.
  • OSHA certification or formal training in production safety.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.

Required Physical Attributes:

  • Must be able to complete repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, or fingers
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
  • Must be okay with potential exposure to peanuts, dairy, food allergens, dust, pollen, and plant pathogens
  • Must be able to withstand loud and noises, including but not limited to air compressors, packaging equipment, and alarms
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
