Pre-Employment Services Consultant

Hillcroft is looking for an energetic and inventive person to add to our Pre-Employment Services team helping people in area high schools develop employment skills through services and supports. 

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Job exploration counseling
2. Work-based learning experiences, which may include in-school or after school opportunities, or experience outside the traditional school setting (including internships), that is provided in an integrated environment to the maximum extent possible
3. Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or post-secondary educational programs at institutions of higher education
4. Workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living
5. Instruction in self-advocacy, which may include peer mentoring
6. Participate in the development of referrals from area schools.
7. Enter all applicable information and data in the Pre-Ets portal.
8. Develop and maintain positive relationships with schools, teams, families, Vocational Rehabilitation, and individuals served.
9. Complete intakes of new students.
10. Meet with students, teachers, and administrative staff on a regular basis. 
11. Participates in client meetings and requests additional meetings as needed.
12. Must be willing to work weekends, evenings or overtime hours as needed.
13. Mentor other staff on job responsibilities when appropriate.
14. Attend meetings and conferences pertinent to the position.

Education, training & experience:  High School Diploma or its equivalent required.  Bachelor’s or associate degree in education, Special Education, Human Services, or related field preferred.

Critical skills/expertise:

1. Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
2. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general information.
3. Ability to generate novel and useful ideas that support job exploration. 
4. Have basic computer skills for data entry, word processing and communication avenue.
