What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Manager position at Hillsboro Aero Academy?
The Program Manager is responsible for assisting flight instructors on their assigned team. The Program Manager will drive the progress of each student assigned to those CFIs. All Program Managers are expected to actively promote a culture of safety and accountability within the company. The Program Manager will be responsible for tracking progress and enabling timely completion of each training program for students in their assigned program. The Program Manager should plan to have approximately 20-30% of their schedule designated for flights on a weekly basis.
Job Duties:
- Monitoring the progress of Intl/Dom Program students to ensure they are making progress according to the goals set by the Chief Instructor, using provided reports by the Chief Instructor;
- Coaching Intl/Dom Program students and CFIs on how to successfully complete student training within time frames and flight hours;
- Pro-actively identifying students who are not making satisfactory progress or who require additional training, and implementing solutions to get students back on track or recommending they be placed on Terminal Academic Probation;
- Pro-actively engaging with the program students with a focus on student training satisfaction;
- Ensuring Intl/Dom Program students are being scheduled with sufficient flight and ground lessons to ensure satisfactory progress is being made. Assist with scheduling students (as necessary) and in coordination with the Campus Manager and Chief/Assistant Chief Instructor;
- Conducting flight training lessons with students;
- Regular reporting to the chief instructor on progress of students ;
- Attending and/or participating in staff meetings;
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Instructor.
Qualifications/Licenses:
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must have a Fixed-Wing Flight Instructor Rating (CFI and/or MEI)
- Previous experience providing primary flight instruction to PVT, IR and/or COMME students
- Organized and motivated, able to determine and prioritize multiple goals and comfortable delegating appropriate responsibilities to direct reports
- Strong people skills and leadership skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups of 30-40 people, and working one-on-one with individuals
- Capable problem solver who can look for creative solutions to challenging problems
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience providing instruction for or managing a pilot training program with international students
- Previous management or team leadership experience
- Previous experience working with international and/or English second-language students
- Previous experience at a flight school which uses ETA Talon flight training software
- Triple-rated flight instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI)
- At least 750 hours of Dual Flight Instruction Given
- Holds a US Drivers License
